(dates/map here)

The sessions are made up of general play and chat, parent support and one to one help, dance classes, swim sessions and Hydrotherapy/Physiotherapy pool sessions, All these run at the same time, and the pool sessions are run to a rota of 20 minute slots.

Swimming

The swin session allow the children to engage in a one to one swim with a qualified instructor in the Hydrotherapy pool. The sessions are designed to help childrens' mobility and strength and develop sensory stimulation. The swimming also helps the children gain confidence and enables some children to move into mainstream swimming provision in the community,

hydroTHERAPY

The hydrotherapy session allow the children to engage in a one to one session with a qualified physiotherapist in the Hydrotherapy pool supported by volunteer student physiotherapists from Leeds Met. The sessions are tailored to the individual needs of each child. A programme of support is devised for each child and is based upon the information given by their parent/carer at their initial session and also on the evaluation carried out by the physio. The programme of support is available and updated at each session to ensure a high level of care. Each exercise/session is designed to develop the child's mobility and strength over a suitable period.

The swimming and physiotherapy sessions are sponsored by 'Children in Need' until 2010

DANCE

The dance session is the first activity of each main Saturday session and enables the children to engage in a group session with a qualified dance teacher. The sessions are available for not only the children but their parents/carers and their siblings too!. The dance teacher uses a range of resources to encourage movement and mobility.

Socialising

The whole session is an opportunity for parents/carers to get together and talk to other parents who may have similar experiences. It gives them an opportunity to share information and provide mutual support for each other. On occasions guest speakers will attend the session to provide information to the group on the latest news/developments that are relevant to the families. Also it can be an opportunity for parents/carers to just relax and enjoy a coffee/tea while their child is in a swim or physio session
